Squaw Lake, Minnesota was incorprated as a village in December, 1940, although its post office was established in 1923. The town was known as a trade center and a station on the Great Northern Railway. In the cut between Round Lake and Alice Lake, you can still see parts of the old railroad and during low water years, you can see many of the "dead heads" in Round Lake from the early logging industry.Squaw Lake is located in the Chippewa National Forest and is part of the famous "Avenue Of Pines". In the 1930's the area just south of Squaw Lake was known as the Cut Foot Sioux Civilian Conservation Corps Camp (F-14).
